     TANZANIA - Southern Tanzinia, Kilwa, Selous Game Reserve, Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar

    (pics from left to right ) - The island of Kilwa Kisiwani, off from Kilwa, was littered with many historic and old ruins:
     The remains of The Great Mosque; the small Domed Mosque; the remains of what was once a Sultan's palatial palace.

     (pics from left to right ) - the road to the Selous Game Reserve was slow, with this old wooden bridge to negotiate;
     our camp at Mbega, just outside the Reserve, was right on the river; a big baobab in the Reserve; a nice group
     impala under a large acacia tree; there were lots of Maasai Giraffe in the Reserve; Nyasa Wilderbeast.

      Tanzania (pics from left to right ) - The road to Dar was still very pot holed, muddy & rough from the 'wet' and it was a slow drive;
     This log truck was going to be there for some time; there are lots of people and fishing vessels in the bay around the port of Dar;
     Neil getting a haircut from Helen - it doesn't take long!

    Zanzibar: (pics from left to right ) - enjoying the sand bar on our sunset cruise out of Zanziba on a local dhow; there was always plenty
     of fish for sale around the fish market just down from our guesthouse; the constant flow of people and vessels at the Malindi port,
     which could be seen from the top floor of our guesthouse.

     Zanzibar: (pics from left to right ) - We enjoyed the island Spice Tour, and even the efforts of our guide's assiantants to make us
     look really silly; Neil & Ron - Kings of the Spice Tour; Viv buying some of the spices available; our guide Ahmed with his assistants.

     Zanzibar: (pics from left to right ) - Master James, on the Spice Tour, showing us how the 'lipstick' plant works;
     The Anglican Cathedral on the site of the old slave market; just a couple of the many magnicently carved wooden doors in old Stone Town;
     Stone Town is a myriad of alley ways.

     (pics from left to right ) - Neil in what was a slave chamber during the slave market time; the foreshore along Stone Town has some
     wonderful old buildings, some of which have been restored (such as the old Dispensary building), many though in a bad state of disrepair;
     the old fort.

      (pics from left to right ) - the fishing village of Nungwi, on the northern end of the island where a busy boat building industry
     keeps many locals employed; those not building boats, fish; or collect shells; there are lots of resorts at this end.

     (pics from left to right ) - we enjoyed eating in the outdoor food market in the old gardens; just a sample of the many alleys to
     explore in Stone Town.
