Northern
KENYA
- Lake Baringo; Shaba National Park and onto Ethiopia border.
Kenya (pics from left to right - top to bottom)
– Our camp at Roberts Camp at Lake Baringo, Kenya – a delightful
camp and one we were at 23 years ago; crossing the equator.

Northern Kenya (pics from left
to right ) – After leaving Nairobi
we headed north, thru Nanyuki , climbing above
8,000' and
into rolling plains of wheat – with a few Thompson Gazelles grazing
in the fields; We rejoined Helen & Neil at the Shaba National Reserve
(a section of Samburu National Park) and picked up our ‘guards'
Golo and Abdirashid who spent the night guarding us and camp; we are
heading into the raining season and the Brown River through the park
was flowing well.

Northern Kenya (pics from left to right -
top to bottom) – Viv looking at the Brown River (aptly
named); there are some different animals within this desert region,
such as the beautiful reticulated giraffe, Beisia Oryx and long
necked Gerenuk – all superbly adapted to the desert country; saw
a few small herds of elephant; our camp, with our guards under
the tree; the lodge within the park – we stopped for a drink –
didn't stay!!

Northern Kenya (pics
from left to right) – headed further north, now traveling
in remote, dry desert country; Ron & Neil looking at
the radiator and deciding how to fix it; Ron getting the ‘hole'
ready to fill – the liquid ‘steel' worked a treat – to date!!; passed
a very large crater on the side of the road after leaving Marsabit .

Donkeys carry water to and from the wells
to the village; a group of camels being herded out to graze (we saw
lots and lots of camels and goats); the local ‘taxi' from
the Ethiopia border into Kenya – goods/supplies in the bottom of the
truck, passengers on top!!

Northern Kenya (pics from left to right) – When
we could, we took some pics of the people walking along the side
of the road - such as these local lads; and this family group – the
kids really liked the popcorn Viv had made up; an
old guy with his camel heading who knows where! .
